CONDITIONS
The competition aims to encourage the creation and performing of contemporary ethno jazz variation plays.
Participants:
Both foreign and local participants, non-regarding their age and sex are allowed to participate in the competition.
Categories:
The competition is for song composition (with or without musical accompaniment) and instrumental pieces.
About the piece:
- New original works or works, created specially for the performer should be presented.
- There are no limits, concerning the specifics of the ethno elements, on which the pieces are based.
- All kinds of musical instruments and sound producing devices are allowed.
- Maximal length – 8 minutes.
Adjudicators:
- The musical works will be judged by a five member independent jury, consisting of prominent musicians and musicologists.
Awards:
², ²² & ²²² place
Award of the audience, which will be adjudged to whoever the audience chooses in a vote.
Participation fee for this first edition of the competition – none.
All expences, including transportation, accomodation and food, etc. are to be payd by the participant himself. The organisors are to provide proper synchronization and sound equipment, as well as musical instruments such as percussions, electric piano, guitar amplifiers.
To participants request, the organizers might cooperate for their accommodation on lower prices in the city of Smolyan.

Deadline for applications – 01 July 2008
The application should include:
- The full name and age of the author;
- A short autobiography, address and telephone number for feedback;
- Length of the piece;
- Exact number of the performers/participants;
- All equipment and musical instruments needed;
- Application for accommodation cooperation.
Program:
19 July 2008 – accommodation in Smolyan and drawing lots for the participants’ order.
20 July 2008 – Audition of the pieces
21 July 2008 – 8.00 p.m. Award ceremony and performance on the main scene of the festival for the winners, which will make part of the official close down of the event.
